The Princess and the Pea is a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. It tells the story of a prince who is supposed to marry but cannot find a suitable princess. A supposed princess appears at his castle and to make sure that she really is of royal blood, the queen places a pea under twenty mattresses and twenty duvets. Due to her extraordinary sensitivity, the princess can feel the pea in the night, proving her royal lineage.
The costumes were designed together with Rebecca Stein and brought to the stage in several performances as part of a collaboration with the singing class of the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. The production was directed by Roman Hovenbitzer.
